CURRENT Projects
out to sea composers collective (OTSCC)
“I want women to turn their minds to big and difficult jobs, not just to go on hugging the shore, afraid to put out to sea” -Ethel Smyth
OTSCC is a community of musicians and composers who aim to expand the gender diversity of our field through increasing the commissions and performances of new works by under-represented communities. We support each other, and our mission, through:
-sharing in-progress works & providing positive critique
-open conversation about difficulties we face in male-dominated spaces
-spreading the word about commissions, grants, residencies, competitions, awards, programs, and other opportunities
-celebrating each others’ wins as our own
-creating a worldwide network of musicians and concert-going companions
